Pool Openings & Closings

Picture
We are blessed in Mesa to have absolutely gorgeous weather year round.  We can gloat to our east coast family and friends about 90 degree weather in December while they freeze their butts off in below freezing temperatures.  If your pool is heated there is little reason to close it during the winter.  The pool surface and overall structure will remain in tact during the ‘winter’ months.  In some instances, construction schedules, planned vacations and decreased traffic may mandate a temporary closure.  Mesa Pool Cleaning Services offers pool openings and closings.  When you are ready, give us a call and we’d be happy to service your pool.

The Benefits Of Closing Your Pool Properly
Throughout the country, most people close their pools to protect against structural and equipment damage in the winter months.  Since our winters are extremely mild, you may have different reasons for shutting down your pool.  To neglect your pool when it is not in use will be problematic upon reopening.  Although it is not in use, proper chemical balance is imperative to prevent pool failure.  When you reopen the pool after an efficient closing, there is less work to be done.  We won’t need to repair structural damage or replace equipment. The filters will be cleaned upon reopening but they won’t need to be replaced.

The Benefits of Opening Your Pool Properly
Once your pool has been closed for a significant period of time, there’s lots of work to do.  If it was properly shut down, opening should prove less laborious and time consuming.  The goal of properly opening your pool is identical to weekly maintenance.  Mesa Pool Cleaning Services will get the chemical levels balanced to preserve your health and the pool’s exterior structure.  We will clean and adjust any and all equipment.  Filters will be cleaned or replaced if necessary.  When your pool technician has done her job effectively you can look forward to endless hours of fun, relaxation and enjoyment.

Mesa Pool Closing Steps
Five days prior to completely closing the pool we will adjust the pH, calcium hardness and alkalinity.  Next, we will shock the pool to kill any lingering bacteria and algae.  When the pool is closed for a significant period of time, algae will have a party of their own and bring friends.  We want to shut down any algae celebrations before they occur.  Adding a winterizing algaecide will do the trick.  The pool technician will remove, rinse, dry and store any and everything that is not water.  This includes ladders, baskets, hoses, filters, pumps and decorative fittings.  Then it will be cleaned as usual and drained just below the tile level.  After draining the equipment, a pool cover will be installed to keep debris out.

Mesa Pool Opening Steps

There are about twenty-five steps involved in re-opening your pool.  We will go over the most vital procedures.  Inspecting the filter and pump for malfunctions and worn parts is key.  Changing or cleaning the filter is imperative for a healthy experience and optimum operation.  We will install equipment and necessary components.  Opening the valves and filling the basket with water is next.  Turning the pump on and off several times must not be overlooked.  Your dedicated pool technician will clean and shock the pool.  She will adjust the chlorine level and add algaecide.  No one wants to swim around in slick algae.  It would be our pleasure to monitor the chemical levels weekly to ensure maximum enjoyment and leisure.
